Tim Burgess Shares His L.A. Playlist
Tim Burgess is dear to our hearts here at WMF for many a reason. He is known internationally as the lead singer of The Charlatans, a solo recording artist, author, head of record label O Genesis, and even has a not-for-profit coffee pop-up Tim Peaks Diner. And now, just before The Charlatans play a string of dates in North America, Tim has shared an L.A. playlist with us here at WMF.
His 2018 album As I Was Now is a highlight release this year, and recent solo shows (with backing band The Anytime Minutes) have seen Tim sharing the bill with Ariel Pink and Jorge Elbrecht, among others. The first U.S. stop on the upcoming Charlatans tour is, quite fittingly, Los Angeles. Though inextricably associated with the pop music histories of Manchester and London, Tim also has an established and remarkable connection Los Angeles.
We’re delighted that Tim has created this stellar playlist of songs that he either heard while living in L.A., remind him of California, or are by Southern California-based artists he knows. The eclectic 48-track collection includes songs by Ariel Pink, R. Stevie Moore, Gary Wilson, Soko, Beachwood Sparks, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, Sky Ferreira, Dent May, Animal Collective, and Frank Zappa.
