World Premiere: Tim Burgess Video for "Clutching Insignificance"

A video for the Tim Burgess track "Clutching Insignificance" has been released, and we at WMF jumped at the opportunity when Tim invited us to share it with the world. "Clutching Insignificance" is the lead-off track from the latest Tim Burgess solo album, As I Was Now (available on black vinyl June 1). The video - remarkably compelling with its immediacy and stripped-down esthetic - ably complements one of the album's standout songs.

We spoke exclusively with Tim Burgess earlier in the year, and when asked if there is a track from the album about which he is particularly excited, the Charlatans frontman replied, "I really like the first track, 'Clutching Insignificance'. It means a lot to me."

As I Was Now is already a top contender for our album-of-the-year pick in 2018, and "Clutching Insignificance" is certainly a highlight from an LP chock-full of gems. Though the video - directed by Chris Walker and Darren Groucutt - is a solo Tim Burgess experience, the track itself is an all-star tour de force with contributions from Debbie Googe (My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream), Martin Duffy (Primal Scream, Felt), and Steffan Halperin (Klaxons).
