Eyedress and Dent May Join Forces on Irresistible Collab "Something About You"

Eyedress and Dent May have collaborated on new single “Something About You”, and we couldn’t be more delighted. It’s no secret that Dent and Eyedress are big names here at WMF, but with both artists clearly at the top of their game and attracting new and sizable audiences around the globe, the timing is perfect for this unprecedented pairing. And as unexpected as this 2021 creative matchup may be, it delivers everything we could have imagined and more.

With its vacation vibes and irresistible fun, “Something About You” is sure to please fans old and new of both artists, so we were understandably eager to learn whatever we could about the origins and background to the joint endeavor. Eyedress and Dent graciously met with WMF for some photos and the following overview to what is already one of the year’s highlights. Indeed, “Something About You” appears irreversibly on course for full-fledged summer anthem status.

Bobby Weirdo: How did this collaboration come about in the first place?

Eyedress: The Internet.

Dent May: We were friends on Twitter.

E: I said that if [Dent] ever wanted to record, I was always down. And he invited me to the studio.

DM:  I made three little loops in one day, sent them over e-mail, and then we wrote the song over here at my studio.

E: I went there, we had a little weed, recorded, and then had a beer and tacos.

DM: I’m always running to the corner store to get a tallboy. You know what I’m saying?

E: It was a good vibe. I felt like I got stuck at one point, so we walked down the street.

DM: So here’s a story: you showed up, and you said you locked your keys in your car.

E: That too!

DM: That was the first thing you said, and I was like, “we’ll figure it out.”

E: I left the key for the club in the car, and I had to get out of there before the parking expired.

BW: So you did the writing session for this track knowing that you had a limited time before you had to move the car?

DM: It was just in the back of our minds.

E: It’s crazy, because the song is about a car.

DM: Oh it is! Driving in a car…I didn’t think about that.

E: I didn’t think about it when we made [the song]. I was just like, “Finally, we’re making music!”

DM: The subconscious works in mysterious ways.

BW: And you both had the idea of the hotel as well?

DM: I have to admit that I’ve been injecting that into everything I do the last couple of albums.

E: We [talked about] those hotels with hot tubs…

DM: Theme roomed hotels.

BW: The hotel where you shot the video was in Big Bear, right?

DM: Yeah, Castle Wood Cottages.

E: That place is sick.

DM: It’s actually next door to where I shot the Late Checkout album cover and “I Could Use a Miracle” video. It was just a funny coincidence.
