Plasmic Shares New Single "Ghosted You" Just in Time for Halloween
Here at WMF, we’ve been on the proverbial Plasmic train for some time now, thanks to a series of excellent live performances in 2022 that have included not only a quality existing body of work, but also exceptional new unreleased material. One of Plasmic’s songs — hitherto unreleased — that particularly caught our attention at recent shows is “Ghosted You”, so we’re excited that the timely anthem is finally available to the masses on all digital platforms.
Plasmic kindly swung through our brand new WMF HQ for some Polaroids (gold film courtesy Celeste X) and also passed along the following exclusive background to “Ghosted You” with WMF, which were are delighted to in turn share here with you:
“‘Ghosted You’ is a song about unrequited queer love inspired by 80s new wave and synth-pop with a modern-day twist. I love the idea of ghosting as a horror film theme, and I had heavy imagery of the movie Poltergeist on the mind while writing the track. But I also wanted to paint a picture of the two sides of ghosting, so the song cuts from the ghost’s prospective to the ghostee’s.
Though I usually self-produce my music, this time I worked with Martin Cooke, a producer who has worked with incredible artists like Death Cab for Cutie and Of Mice & Men. I loved collaborating with Martin and combining our unique recording methods and ideas. Martin’s background in engineering and percussion made him the perfect person to help me create the Kate Bush/Phil Collins vibe I wanted for this song.”
