Rikky Gage Update: Three Upcoming Free Weed Albums, Live Shows with The Memories, A New Book, a Year of Tuesdays in 2023, and More

Hot on the heels of his first live performance (March 18) in three years, The Memories/White Fang frontman and solo artist Erik Wolfegang Gage — aka Rikky Gage — joined us over at WMF HQ for a catch-up and Polaroid shoot. Eager for an update regarding Rikky’s upcoming plans for the remainder of 2023, we were excited to hear that the approaching weeks and months are busy ones indeed for the prolific interdisciplinary artist.

Rikky shared with us that he’s concurrently working on three Free Weed albums as well as one by The Memories. “The scumbag folk one Drugs & Alcohol is the main [one right now]. Should be out next month, hoping for 4/20 release. The Memories are playing shows again and making a new album,” Rikky explained.

Backtracking on the RG music timeline just slightly, we should also add that 2022 Free Weed track “Acting Strange” is one of the most delightfully unexpected tracks we’ve heard in quite some time, and a natural inclusion on our WMF Faves playlist.

Beyond the music realm, Rikky is also expressive via the written word. His first two poetry books Look Back & Cringe and Cinnamon Apple Candles swiftly sold out, leading to an upcoming compilation of the aforementioned titles into one work entitled Balloon Night. His third poetry editionThe Juice Isn’t Worth the Squeeze is nearly complete.

A multi-talent indeed, Rikky’s creative output extends beyond music, art, and poetry, and he is currently collaborating with Chris Uehlein on a video game about a dog detective (“Think Roger Rabbit meets The Warriors,” Rikky offered). He kindly shared some of the music from the upcoming game with us, which we found as pleasant and fun as it is surprising in its range, and anything but typical video game music fare.

As if the above mentioned body of work and diverse endeavors weren’t enough, Rikky Gage appears to be selling his visual art as quickly as he is able to produce it, and his Tuesday TikTok videos have become such a breakout success (as of this writing he currently has over 71, 200 TikTok followers) parallel to the rest of his art that he’s even jumped into the world of Cameo to meet the demand for Tuesday content (Who knew?). We’ll be circling back with Rikky Gage for updates on his music, poetry, art, and more in 223 and beyond

In the meantime, Rikky’s art, music, poetry, and more is available here.
