Premiere: Andy Votel Remixed Tim Burgess Track “I Got This”, and It's Brilliant
Andy Votel has remixed Tim Burgess track “I Got This”, and we are both thrilled and honored to premiere it here at WMF. “I Got This” originally appeared on Tim’s 2020 album I Love The New Sky, and is an upbeat favorite of ours from that highly recommended LP.
Tim Burgess has a well-established track record of selecting excellent collaborators to remix his material, and Andy Votel is no exception. Loyal to the spirit of the original while also thoroughly its own statement, the Andy Votel “I Got This” remix is one of those rare examples that not only shines on its own, but also reinvigorates appreciation for its predecessor. Offering a dynamic new sonic environment for the song while also giving ample attention and respect for Tim’s iconic vocals, this Andy Votel treatment decisively earns inclusion in the prestigious Tim Burgess remix canon.
We asked Tim for background to this exciting intersection, and he graciously shared the following info with us:
“Andy Votel has the most eclectic and brilliant taste in music - he’s not only got records by dozens of artists we won’t know, but he could DJ for 3 hours with entire genres that most of us have never come across - Balkan movie soundtrack disco anyone? So, naturally he was the first person I contacted when I was after a remix. I sent him I Love The New Sky and he chose ‘I Got This’. A week or so later, the remix landed. And it blew my mind. Hope you enjoy it just as much.”
There is an extremely limited flexidisc of the remix available (300 copies).
