World Premiere: Special-K Shares New Video "Dinner for 1"

We’re thrilled that Special-K (aka Katrín Helga Andrésdóttir) is rounding out a remarkably prolific year by premiering her new “Dinner for 1” video with us here at WMF. Our readers (as well as an exponentially-growing number of Special-K fans around the globe) may recognize Special-K as half of Icelandic-Norwegian duo Ultraflex, along with artist/producer/label head Farao. Additionally, Special-K made WMF’s Top Twenty Tracks of 2020 list for her exceptional “Quest to Impress” single, which appears on 2020 EP LUnatic thirST (released on Street Pulse Records).

We know WMF followers will enjoy this latest Special-K video — beautifully captured in the Highlands of Iceland and co-directed by Kristín Helga Ríkharðsdóttir — as much as we do. Last but not least, we’ve included exclusive behind-the-scenes info about the “Dinner for 1” video directly from Special-K.

Special-K shared this background with WMF about the “Dinner for 1” video:

Last spring my close friend and frequent collaborator Kristín Helga Ríkharðsdóttir asked me if I'd want to do a road trip around the Icelandic highlands with her. Kristín is not just an amazing artist and funny as hell, she's also a ranger and nature enthusiast - so I instantly knew that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. The only problem was that to get to the highlands, you need a monster jeep, and that neither of us had.

As we were drinking coffee one day and brainstorming about how to solve this problem, we started forming the idea to make a music video as a side product that could help us get sponsored by a car rental. So we sat down, wrote a business proposal, googled car rentals and sent out about 40 emails (who knew such a tiny country had so many car rentals).

The next few days we got a lot of "no”s and even more “no replies”, however - we got one yes! Now we just needed an idea for the video. We had already been working with stereotypical sexy Icelandic animals, like puffins, whales and horses, so next in line was obviously the Icelandic sheep. Did you know that there are twice as many sheep in Iceland as humans? This was reasoning enough for us, resulting in this video. Thank you for watching!
